Residues to resources: a new circular economy for plastic containers
Workshop organized by CIRC-PACK
el miércoles, 11 de abril de 2018 de 10:00 a 13:00
On April 11, 2018, consumers, businesses and European authorities will meet in Brussels to offer new perspectives on the challenges facing the value chain of plastic packaging, and the solutions we need for a circular economy.
Of the 25.8 million tons of plastic waste produced annually in the European Union, almost two thirds are packaging waste; It is often difficult to recover or even reuse due to its poor quality. Packaging that is multi-layered and multi-material represents an even greater challenge.
CIRC-PACK (one of the EU's latest innovation drivers for a more sustainable plastics sector) aims to decouple plastics from fossil fuels by producing innovative biodegradable plastics with alternative raw materials of biological origin. It is also innovating its way towards a new packaging of "ecological design", which means a better recycling of difficult to manage packaging products.
There will be a series of in-depth discussions and round tables on the CIRC-PACK approach and issues such as legislative barriers to recycle bio-based plastics.
