Cemex chooses Innova’s packaging technology for 15 plants in Mexico

Cemex, the largest cement company in Mexico and a global leader in building materials, has chosen Innova Group’s packaging technology to upgrade the end-of-line systems in 15 of its production plants across Mexico. This major packaging project includes the installation of 25 semi-automatic turntable wrapping machines by Innova—an essential solution to improve load stability during road transportation.

Cemex opted for Innova’s stretch-wrapping solution for its efficiency, sustainability, and safe load securing, fully aligned with the company’s commitment to the high-quality and safety standards required by its extensive logistics operations.

 

Cemex’s challenge: A unified packaging solution for its logistics network

Cemex sought a wrapping solution that could be adapted to different production lines, load types, and facilities, while offering uniformity, packaging strength, and ease of operation. The goal was to improve pallet stability during long-haul transportation routes throughout Mexico.

Another key requirement was to unify its packaging logistics across all production and distribution centers by implementing a single wrapping technology from one provider. Given that the project involved equipping 15 of its main plants, the wrapping systems had to be easy to install and operate.

Cemex also preferred to partner with a packaging system manufacturer based locally in Mexico—another reason why Innova Group was the right fit, offering specialized technical support for installation and ongoing service with rapid spare parts availability.

 

Innova’s solution: Stretch Wrapping Technology

To meet the multi-site installation challenge, Innova Group manufactured and installed 25 semi-automatic turntable wrapping machines for Cemex, each equipped with a roping system accessory for enhanced load stability. The model installed was “Cyclone by Innova”, known for its efficiency, reliability, and European-quality components, securely wraps various pallet types with intuitive operation, ideal for demanding industrial environments like Cemex’s.

All wrapping systems installed feature a motorized pre-stretch film system and a roping system that functions like a strapping band to secure the load to the pallet base. This ensures stronger load retention in critical areas, which is particularly important for heavy items such as cement bags and other construction materials.
